The City of Greater Dandenong has chosen an Animal Kingdom theme for its fifth annual Children’s Festival, which will run throughout the school holidays.
Families are invited to let their imaginations run wild at the series of free and low cost events happening across Dandenong from 23 September to 8 October. The festival features exciting and interactive programs, activities, performances, workshops, and exhibitions.
The main event, right in the middle of the period on Sunday 1 October, is the “Little Day Out for BIG Imaginations” at Ross Reserve in Noble Park. Entry to the event will be free, although some of the carnival rides and special activities will incur a cost. Activities include camel rides, and learning circus tricks or song and dance routines.
During the rest of the fortnight there will be plenty of other things to do. They include soccer and basketball, gym access and classes at the Oasis Health Club, a jungle disco at the Jan Wilson Community Centre, and a treasure hunt at Parkmore Shopping Centre.
Or you can relax with Deckchair Movies each weekday from 12pm at Dandenong's Harmony Square. All movies are rated G to PG, and have an animal kingdom theme. Movies include The Jungle Book 2016, The Secret Life of Pets, The Lion King, and classic Disney film Bambi. Bring blankets or seats, and a picnic lunch to enjoy as you watch.
Please note that all children must be fully supervised at all Children's Festival events.
