Its a fact that we easily overlook cleaning the one room where we spend time cleaning ourselves. These are some of the errors people commonly make.
Most families brush their teeth in the bathroom, and the toothbrush is often not far from the toilet. Researchers at the University of Manchester in England have shown that each toothbrush contains an average of 10 million germs, including E. coli. Other researchers, at Harvard University, found that every time you flush toilet, faeces particles will splash up to two meters.
Therefore, it is best to place toothbrushes and the basin far from the toilet. Otherwise, thoroughly wash your toothbrush after each use, and occasionally soak it in a cup of vinegar for about 30 minutes to remove any remaining bacteria. You should also change your toothbrush once a month.
Bathrooms are a wet and welcoming environment for harmful bacteria and mould. The ideal environment for them is a wet towel. After drying your body with a towel every time you take a bath, hang it out to dry in the sun. And absolutely do not share towels with other people, no matter how close you are.
Cleaning sponges and cloths
Don't try to save on sponges or brushes when cleaning the bathroom. Each area - basins, bathtub, toilet, shower, mirrors, etc - should be cleaned with different cleaning tools. In this way, you will prevent the spread of bacteria. After cleaning the bathroom, throw away the used cloths and sponges.
If you have a shower curtain, put it in the washing machine with some towels and a cup of vinegar. Run it for five minutes, then hang the curtain in the sun to dry.
Back of the toilet
Little attention is paid to the back of the toilet, but it is the place that needs to be cleaned most, because urine and faeces will be often deposited there. Place a paper towel soaked in antibacterial detergent on this area for a few minutes, then wipe it again with a dry paper towel.
You might think that the more detergent you use, the cleaner your bathroom will be. However, the truth is, you will get more diseases when using strong cleansing chemicals. Many chemicals in bleach can cause cancer, blindness, and other health problems. Clean the bathroom with natural ingredients such as orange, lemon and grapefruit peel, salt or baking soda.
