Enjoying Childhood In Children's Week

Childrens Week is an annual event celebrated all over Australia, held around the fourth Wednesday in October. This year it will run from Saturday 21 October to Sunday 29 October.

    Children's Week celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood. It is a time for children to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities.

    A diverse range of events and activities is organised at National, State and Local levels. Thousands of children and their families are involved, through the participation of schools, playgroups, childcare, kindergartens, cultural groups, libraries, departments and community groups.

    Werribee Park Picnic

    Werribee Park Mansion, 306 K Road, Werribee South, Sunday 22 October, 10am to 4pm. Bring your own picnic goodies, or enjoy the food trucks. Four Activity Precincts with a live stage, chill out zone, sports area, Toy Swap, and arts experience zone. Lawn games, hip-hop, circus skills, carousel rides, and plenty more.     Brimbank Playgroup Picnic

    Buckingham Reserve, Learmonth Street, West Sunshine, Thursday 26 October, 11am to 2pm. The picnic is a fun, family friendly day of interactive and educational activities, in a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for children up to 5 years. Some highlights include African Latino performers, Giant size toddler activities, Story time, and Henna art. Bookings are essential.     Children’s Fun Day

    Town Park, Civic Square, Croydon, Friday 27 October, 10am to 1pm. Maroondah Council has collaborated with many local community groups to provide musical entertainment, storytelling, face painting and sensory play.
