    Obesity

    Lack of sleep can make you stressful and susceptible to minor illnesses. A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism found that an hour-long nap can help balance hormones and reduce the risk of obesity among those who suffer from sleep deprivation.

    One sleepless night can adversely affect blood vessels, making them less active, and increasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. However, a good sleep, or a nap, can help blood vessels recover.

    Anxiety

    A study by the University of California found that lack of sleep also causes serious strain, and warned that this makes it easier to develop anxiety disorders. As a result, taking a nap plays an important role in preventing this disease.

    Diabetes

    In a study by the University of Chicago, participants who slept four and a half hours each day for four consecutive days had more fatty acids in their blood. This made their blood sugar level higher than those who sleep eight hours a day, which increases the risk of diabetes.
