The Learning Precinct will contain one secondary school, comprising three campuses, and two primary schools.

From 2020, Footscray City College will become a new senior campus for Years 10-12. Current Footscray City College students will complete their school education at the current site.

Gilmore College for Girls will become Gilmore College, a co-educational junior campus for Years 7-9. In 2019, the college will start changing its enrolments, with no Years 7 or 11 intake.

A new secondary campus in Seddon will be a co-educational junior campus for Years 7-9. At this time the opening date is subject to future budget funding.

The precinct also includes two existing primary schools, Footscray City Primary School and Footscray Primary School.

One school council will oversee all the secondary campuses, and there will be one principal for the school and a principal for each campus. The two primary schools will each have their own principal and school council.

The Government will appoint a Transition Coordinator next year to develop individual transition plans and provide guidance to staff, students, parents and carers. Over the next two years the Year 7-9 curriculum will be mapped across the precinct, with teacher training and development and planning days in 2019. Enrolment boundary maps will be released in 2018.

Asked twice for feedback, the local community has called for a clear transition plan, with early consultation with students and families. They also hope the precinct will produce emotionally intelligent students with a social conscience, maintain community connections, and celebrate local history, street art, multiculturalism and wetlands.

A performance space, indoor sports facilities, accessible play spaces, and walking and cycling routes to school and around the precinct were also requested.
