    Quit smoking

Smoking is the worst habit for destroying lungs. If you have this habit, you are shortening your life, because cigarettes have been proven to cause lung cancer and bronchitis. Remember that there are no safety limits for smoking. Those who do not smoke are in just as much danger from passive smoking.

    Air pollution

Do not travel to areas where there is a lot of polluted air. Air pollution worsens conditions like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. If you can't move to a place where the air is cleaner, protect your lungs by closing windows and wearing a mask outside.

    Exercise

Exercise can significantly increase stamina. In this way, your lungs also become stronger in pushing oxygen around the body. Regular exercise is important, especially if you have a chronic lung disease.

    Diet

Eating properly is not only beneficial to the lungs, but also to the whole body. Many types of foods are proven to be good for the lungs, such as cruciferous vegetables, broccoli, cabbage, and kale. A study in 2011 showed that those who consumed such vegetables can reduce the risk of lung cancer by a half.

    Indoor air

Air pollution is not just an outdoor problem. There are many sources of indoor air pollution, such as furnaces, mould, pet hair, construction materials, etc. In order to improve your living space, at least one or two trees should be planted in your house. They not only beautify your house but also act as a detergent for indoor air pollution.

Some ornamental plants can be used indoors as air purifiers. The Peace Lily and Snake Plant actually remove many toxic substances from the air, including benzene, formaldehyde, tri-chloroethylene, xylene, toluene and ammonia. These toxins can cause headaches or respiratory problems.

Giant Taro, Ficus Elastica, Areca Palm and Fern are also highly effective.
