The hotpot is one of the most popular forms of Asian cuisine, and the ideal way to cater for large groups, such as birthdays or other special occasions.
It is also a simple solution for those unplanned times, like an unexpected reunion of friends or family, or a workplace party.
TT Hotpot Buffet is readymade proof of this. The restaurant has been open for business barely more than a month, but it is so popular the managers have decided to extend their opening hours.
The cuisine is mainly Vietnamese, but also includes entree dishes such as chicken wings, satays, corn on the cob, and Japanese Gyoza pork dumplings. Everyone chooses what they want from a carousel, and cooks it in any of five soups. The soups are plain or spicy chicken, tom yum, miso and vegetable.
Co-manager Holly Truong says their soju drinks, available in strawberry, peach, and apple flavours, are very popular. A crowd favourite is watermelon or Yakult soju by the jug. Also popular are Thai milk teas, sometimes called “bubble tea”.
TT Hotpot Buffet also offers a variety of traditional desserts, like banana leaf wrapped glutinous rice, grass jelly with coconut milk, and banana with tapioca pudding.
With the very warm and friendly customer service, and the great array of dishes, TT Hot Buffet has quickly attracted a large crowd of regular customers. They know what to expect and do not hesitate to recommend the buffet.
Located at Shop 7, 4 Main Road West, St Albans (at St Albans Station), TT Hotpot Buffet is easy to get to. It is good value, at $30 per person for the lunch menu, and $34 per person for dinner. The price includes a small plate of seafood for each person.
