If you want to combine fitness and social contact with a worthy health cause, come along to Coulson Gardens in Maribyrnong on Sunday 18 February.
Melbourne's “Run For Hope” is a fundraiser for two worthwile charity bodies. Pink Hope helps women and families with an increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer, and beyondblue provides information and support to help everyone achieve their best possible mental health.
Run for Hope was founded in 2012 by Sarah Powell, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 29 years old, and her personal trainer Alannagh Pooley from FullFitment Personal Training. Last year they decided they would also like the event to raise money for beyondblue, and begin this new partnership in 2018.
The event is a 5km run/walk and a 10km run around the Maribyrnong River. It starts and finishes in Coulson Gardens, Chifley Drive, Maribyrnong.
The fun run starts at 9.30am and all activities finish at 12.30pm. There are prizes and a raffle draw at 10.45am, with a jumping castle, face painting, and sausage sizzle from 11am to 12pm.
Registration costs range from $20 (children 5-16yrs) to $100 (family up to 2 adults & 4 children), with $50 registrations on the day or $45 prior.
There is a $5 discount for local residents in the Maribyrnong City Council area. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for the discount code.
You can register online at www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?
When you have registered, collect your run bib on the day between 8.30am and 9.10am.
The event will be cancelled if weather conditions are dangerous on the day, and your entry fee will become a donation to Pink Hope.
