This year's Emerge in the North festival begins on Friday 22 June at 6pm at the Epping Community Services Hub, 713 High Street, Epping. The curated exhibition of art in many forms by local artists will be open until 1 July, from 10am to 7pm on weekdays and 11am to 4pm on the weekends.

The Festival is a remarkable opportunity to discover the incredible and diverse cultures and talent of people who live in the northern suburbs. As well as art exhibitions, it includes comedy storytelling, Turkish marbling art workshops, artist talks, new musical collaborations, and a youth film competition.

On Saturday 30 June the Festival closes with a concert at Epping Memorial Hall, 827 High St, Epping, from 11am to 4pm. The afternoon will feature cultural stalls, music, dance, cooking demonstrations, workshops, fashion and more. Alárìíyá, a band of musicians from Australian, African and Japanese backgrounds, will wrap it up with a final afro-beat dance party.

The Festival is organised by Multicultural Arts Victoria, with the aid of generous sponsors and volunteers. All events are free of charge.

This is a chance to see reflections of life from many different cultures, showing the lively human spirit at the heart of each.
